African Cuckoo-Hawk

Koekoekvalk · Aviceda cuculoides

A secretive, slender raptor that resembles a cuckoo, keeping to leafy woodland where it hunts chameleons, insects and small reptiles. Its flight is unusually loose and floppy, and it rarely soars, so it is more often glimpsed perched quietly within the canopy than seen overhead.
