Hoephoep · Upupa africana

An unmistakable cinnamon bird with bold black-and-white wings and a long down-curved bill, named for its 'hoop-hoop' call. It struts over open ground probing the soil for grubs and insects, and is a familiar sight on the lawns of rest camps all year round.
