African Pygmy Goose
Dwerggans · Nettapus auritus
A tiny, brightly coloured duck that is not actually a goose. The male is gorgeous, with green upperparts, orange sides and pale green cheek patches around a short yellow bill. It floats among waterlilies, eating their seeds, and nests in tree holes. Its small size makes it easy to miss.
