Dickinson's Kestrel

Dickinsonse Grysvalk · Falco dickinsoni

A compact grey kestrel strongly associated with palms and dead trees, mainly in Kruger's north. It hunts from a low perch, dropping onto lizards, large insects and small reptiles, and even attends bush fires to grab fleeing prey. The pale head and rump are good field marks.
