A tiny, long-legged insectivore with a comically long, flexible, trunk-like nose. It darts and bounds over rocks at high speed along cleared 'trails', snapping up insects. One of the playful 'Little Five'.

How to identify it

Mouse-sized but with very long back legs and a long, mobile snout; it bounces rather than runs.

Where to see it in Kruger

Rocky koppies and outcrops, especially in the south and around Berg-en-Dal.
