Eurasian Hobby

Europese Boomvalk · Falco subbuteo

A sleek, long-winged falcon that visits in summer from Europe and Asia. Superbly agile, it chases swallows, swifts and large insects in flight, often hunting at dawn and dusk. Its dark streaked underparts and reddish 'trousers' separate it from the resident kestrels and falcons.
