Fork-tailed Drongo

Mikstertbyvanger · Dicrurus adsimilis

A glossy black bird with red eyes and a deeply forked, fishtail-shaped tail. It perches in the open and darts out to snatch flying insects, often hunting near grazing animals to catch what they disturb. A bold and noisy bird, it fearlessly chases away hawks and eagles much bigger than itself, and is a clever mimic of other birds' calls.
