Golden-breasted Bunting

Rooirugstreepkoppie · Emberiza flaviventris

A handsome, slim bunting with a boldly black-and-white striped head, a rich chestnut back, golden-yellow breast and two white wing-bars. It walks quietly on the ground beneath trees searching for seeds and insects, usually alone or in pairs rather than flocks. The simple, slightly wheezy song is given from a perch in open woodland and is easily overlooked.
