Hadeda Ibis

Hadeda · Bostrychia hagedash

The Hadeda is famous for its loud 'haa-haa-haa-de-dah' call that echoes across the bush, especially at dawn. This grey-brown ibis has a long curved bill and a shimmering green-and-purple patch on its wing that gleams in the sun. It uses its bill to probe lawns and soft soil for earthworms, insects and grubs.
