Hottentot Teal

Gevlekte Eend · Spatula hottentota

A tiny dabbling duck, also called the Blue-billed Teal, with a dark crown, buff cheeks and a powder-blue bill. It keeps to quiet, plant-rich pans, feeding by filtering seeds and small creatures from the surface. Usually seen in pairs or small parties, it is easily overlooked among bigger ducks.
