Lesser Bushbaby

Nagapie · Galago moholi

A tiny, wide-eyed primate the size of a squirrel, grey with big membranous ears and an enormous tail. It leaps acrobatically through the canopy at night hunting insects and feeding on tree gum. Its Afrikaans name 'nagapie' means 'little night monkey'.

How to identify it

Far smaller than the thick-tailed bushbaby; huge eyes and ears, and astonishing leaps between trees.

Where to see it in Kruger

Acacia and bushwillow woodland; often seen around camps at night by torchlight.
