Lesser Grey Shrike
Gryslaksman · Lanius minor
A neat grey, white and black shrike that visits Kruger in the austral summer from breeding grounds in Europe and Asia, departing before winter. Its broad black forehead band tells it from the resident Common Fiscal. It perches upright and conspicuous on bushes and wires, dropping onto grasshoppers and beetles in the open grassy areas it favours.
