Lesser Jacana
Dwergljakana · Microparra capensis
A dainty, dove-sized relative of the African Jacana with very long toes that spread its weight across floating plants. It is much paler, with a rusty cap and no blue bill shield, and is easily missed as it picks insects from lily pads. Shy and uncommon, it favours quiet, lily-covered backwaters.
