Little Grebe
Kleindobbertjie · Tachybaptus ruficollis
A small, rounded waterbird, often called the dabchick, that bobs on the surface and dives again and again to catch little fish and insects underwater. In the breeding season it shows rich chestnut cheeks and a bright pale spot at the bill base, and gives a loud whinnying trill from the reeds.
