Marabou Stork

Maraboe · Leptoptilos crumenifer

Sometimes called the 'undertaker bird' because of its hunched shape and bald head, the Marabou Stork is a giant scavenger with one of the largest wingspans of any land bird. It often joins vultures at carcasses, using its powerful bill to feed. A dangling pink throat pouch and spindly legs make it look both spooky and amazing.
