Red-knobbed Coot
Bleshoender · Fulica cristata
A plump, sooty-black waterbird with a clean white bill and forehead shield, plus two little red bumps on top that give it its name. It dives for water plants and squabbles noisily with neighbours, splashing across the surface. Coots gather on bigger open dams, sometimes in large rafts.
