Southern Grey-headed Sparrow

Gryskopmossie · Passer diffusus

An indigenous sparrow of the bushveld, soft grey on the head and underparts with a chestnut back and a neat white wing-bar, and no black bib. It feeds on seeds and insects on the ground in woodland, usually in pairs or small groups. More a bird of natural habitat than the introduced House Sparrow, though it also visits camps and clearings.
