Willow Warbler

Hofsanger · Phylloscopus trochilus

One of the most numerous Palearctic migrants in southern Africa, present roughly October to April and absent during winter. It is a small, plain greenish warbler with a pale eyebrow and no wing-bars. Constantly active, it gleans tiny insects from foliage high in the canopy, often flicking its wings. Its soft, descending warble is heard mostly as it prepares to depart.
