Yellow-throated Longclaw

Geelkeelkalkoentjie · Macronyx croceus

A robust, pipit-like grassland bird with strikingly bright yellow underparts and a bold black breast band like a necklace. The very long hind claw gives the group its name. It walks through damp grass hunting insects and frequently perches on low bushes or anthills to sing a loud, clear whistled phrase that carries across open ground.
