African Emerald Cuckoo

Mooimeisie · Chrysococcyx cupreus

A jewel-coloured cuckoo, the male emerald-green above and golden-yellow below, but so well camouflaged in the canopy it is far easier to hear than see. It haunts tall riverine forest in summer, parasitising warblers and flycatchers, and withdraws to the tropics for winter.
