Birds Cuckoos Common

Klaas's Cuckoo

Meitjie · Chrysococcyx klaas

A dainty glossy-green cuckoo whose plaintive 'meitjie' call carries softly through summer woodland. It parasitises small insect-eaters such as sunbirds, batises and warblers. Most birds leave Kruger for the winter, with only a scarce few lingering, so it is essentially a summer visitor.
