Emerald-spotted Wood Dove

Groenvlekduifie · Turtur chalcospilos

A small ground-feeding dove with metallic green spots on the folded wing. Its haunting call, a series of mournful notes that speed up and fall away, is one of the most evocative bush sounds. It walks quietly under woodland and thickets eating seeds, resident all year.
