Great Egret

Grootwitreier · Ardea alba

An elegant, all-white heron with a long, slender neck that it often holds in a graceful S-shape. The Great Egret stalks slowly through shallow water, spearing fish and frogs with its sharp bill. In the breeding season it grows beautiful wispy plumes and its bill turns from yellow to black, making it look extra special.
