Greater Kudu

Koedoe · Tragelaphus strepsiceros

A tall, grey-brown antelope with thin white stripes down its sides, the greater kudu is one of the most graceful animals in the bush. Bulls grow magnificent spiralling horns that can be over a metre long. Despite their size, kudu are shy and slip quietly through dense thickets, often standing dead still to avoid being seen.
