Grey-headed Parrot

A large, powerful parrot with a pale silvery-grey head and red shoulder patches, much bigger than the Brown-headed Parrot. In Kruger it is confined to the tall woodlands of the far north around Pafuri, where it feeds on fruit, seeds and nuts and nests in big trees year-round.

How to identify it

Much larger than Brown-headed Parrot, with a silvery-grey head and red shoulders; far-northern Kruger only.

Listen for its call

Loud raucous squawks and screeches as it flies over.
