Slender Mongoose

Swartkwasmuishond · Herpestes sanguineus

A skinny, quick mongoose, usually reddish-brown to black, with a long body and a distinctive tail held up with a black tip curled at the end. Unlike its sociable cousins, the slender mongoose mostly lives and hunts alone, darting after insects, lizards, and small snakes. It is bold and curious, often dashing across roads with its black-tipped tail flicking up behind it.
