Three-banded Plover
Driebandstrandkiewiet · Charadrius tricollaris
A small, neat plover of waterside mud and sand, grey-brown above and white below with two black bands across the chest and a bright red eye-ring. It runs in short bursts, pauses with a little body-bob, then snatches an insect. Despite its name the two bands are its most obvious feature.
