Bronze-winged Courser

Bronsvlerkdrawwertjie · Rhinoptilus chalcopterus

The largest of the coursers, a long-legged ground bird of woodland that comes alive after dark. Brown above with a dark chest band, white belly and red legs, it hunts insects at night and often sits on warm roads. By day it crouches under a bush, so most sightings come on night drives.
