Temminck's Courser
Trekdrawwertjie · Cursorius temminckii
A small, sandy-rufous ground bird that runs in fast spurts then freezes upright. It has a chestnut crown, a dark line through the eye and a black-and-chestnut belly patch. It is drawn to short grass and recently burnt veld, where it dashes after insects on long pale legs and nests on the bare earth.
