Shikra

Gebande Sperwer · Accipiter badius

A small, neat grey hawk and one of the most common in Kruger's woodland. The Shikra hunts from a perch, dropping fast onto lizards, small birds and insects. Its pale, finely barred underparts and quiet, upright posture on an exposed branch make it a regular roadside sighting.
